The inklings of the soul

The soul is immortal.

A man's spirit is withdrawn and returns to its giver at death, he breaths no more. His body returns to dust, but it is his soul that survives forever. There is eternal value to it, in fact the merchants of Babylon trade in the bodies and souls of mankind.

The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over Babylon because no one buys her cargoes anymore ... and bodies and souls of men. (Revelation 18:11 & 13)

God seeks purity and righteousness upon all souls, that is why Jesus died. Audit the thoughts of the soul, because the feet soon follow the ideas.

Some tips to guard the soul:

  • acknowledge the Lord in ALL things, from the massive to the miniscule and all matters in between (see Proverbs 3:5-6)
  • deny the soul's thirst for wickedness, no compromise. Instead feed the soul with things of the Lord (see Isaiah 26:9a)
  • do not go down to the street corner, do not put self in places of compromise or vulnerability. This is the pursuing of temptation (see Proverbs 7:6-27) Flee temptation.
  • choose friends wisely
  • pray the Lord's Prayer each morning, it 'covers all bases'
  • daily live in The Word before you have to 'live' in your work
  • fear the Lord

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. (Proverbs 4:18)
