Are You Ungifted?
Ok you are not a Conan O'Brien; this thought causes you little distress or maybe the opposite?
But in reality you DO know that you don't share your brother's and sister's high stations, abilities that impress or their welcome from those in high office. Doors don't open and the phone never consults your opinion.
You are not seen, hidden from the eyes of Christian captains; overlooked for the roles of dignity, the seats of honor or invitation to the altar.
Your absence of human success and honor is as clear as an ancient church-bell's toll:
- your name appears upon no noticesheets or church bulletin boards,
- your person is not feted from the pulpit,
- there are few certificates (if any) of success in your desk drawers,
- the mantlepiece carries no cards of congratulations and
- the only trophy in your glass cabinet is a deeper dust than anyone else.
Refuse the lament that you do not share in the public gifts, or walk the red carpet of favor.
The Lord has arranged you, is arranging you and will arrange to be the part of His body He wants you to be - that organ YOU ALONE are best at.
The visible, the talented and the honored are incapable of filling the role He has created for YOU.
But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as He wanted them to be. (1 Corinthians 12:18)
The weaker and unseen are equally loved and consequential to God.
On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable (1 Corinthians 12:24)
This is true:
The Lord has never sought heroes, just helpers.
Rejoice in the menial for your Father who sees in secret also rewards in secret.
