A Prayer from Life's Valley#
Let me learn from You:
Lord high and holy, meek and lowly,
You have brought me to the Valley of Vision,
Where I live in the depths, but you see in the heights,
Yet, hemmed in by mountains of pain and sin I behold Your glory.
Let me learn Your paradox:
That the way down is the way up,
That to be lowly is to be high,
That the broken heart is the open heart,
That the repenting soul is the winning soul, and
That the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit.
Let me learn clearly:
That to have nothing is to own heaven,
That to bear The Cross is to wear The Crown,
That to give is to receive, and
That the valley, This Valley is the place of vision.
Let me learn thoroughly:
That stars can be still seen from the deepest wells,
That the deeper the wells, the clearer Your stars,
To find Your light in my darkness,
To find Your life in my self-death,
To find Your joy in my sorrow.
Let me learn deeply:
To find Your grace in my sin,
To find Your riches in my poverty,
To find Your sight in my blindness, and
To find Your glory in my valley. AMEN
