2 Types of Christians#
To endure in hope through darkness is an easy task to flee - but we must stand. Even if we stand alone, then our God-given little flicker of light pierces the darkness - yes, perhaps only in that small space - but it is noticed - just as a tiny thorn annoys a finger.
It is noticed because of its defiance and because even a little shimmer in a sea of darkness looks like a lighthouse.
Flickers of light irritates evil; a niggling reminder that the darkness cannot endure and must face its own inevitable and horrible, eternal end.
In Jesus was life, and that life is the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not overcome it. (John 1:4-5)
From my life's blessing I can only speculate, but the Christian's persecuted long know facing darkness - their sparkle is an inspiration to us all.
Two quotes from Richard Wurmbrand (In God's Underground) are amazing:
- Did I believe in God? Now the test had come. I was alone. There was no salary to earn, no golden opinions to consider. God offered me only suffering—would I continue to love Him?”
- He said there were two kinds of Christians: those who sincerely believe in God and those who, just as sincerely, believe that they believe. You can tell them apart by their actions in decisive moments.
You can tell all Christians apart when the darkness descends.
It is easier to glow in the day. If your light sputters or even burns out; it is much harder for others to notice.#
