Building Self-Esteem the Bible's Way
Rarely is the Bible considered a manual for building self-esteem – let alone quoted! Yet, by its very nature it is spoken to, penned for, and written by those who the world rejects. Is not God Himself the most rejected of all?
There is always something in the Bible to build people up and not tear them down, for those who would have eyes to see:
1) I am the apple of His eyes ~ Psalm 17:8, Zechariah 2:8
2) God wants me in His presence, He does not reject me. ~ Psalm 46:10, Zechariah 2:13, Psalm 91 & John 6:37
3) He takes great delight in me. ~ Zephaniah 3:17
4) He does not condemn me. ~ John 3:17, 5:24 & Romans 8:1
5) I am accepted, secure and I belong. ~ Romans 8:35-39, 1 Corinthians 6:20 & Philippians 3:20
6) Whoever comes to Me I will never drive away. ~ Zechariah 3:17, John 6:37
7) I am chosen and significant. ~ John 15:16
8) I am a new creation. ~ 2 Corinthians 5:7
Charles Spurgeon encourages the smallest, the slowest, the maligned and those trodden underfoot:
By perseverance the snail reached the ark.
