3 Ways to Hurt the Holy Spirit
A scantily clad soul cares little for others, save themselves. Mea culpa!
Quite carelessly I wander through my days clothed in spiritual underwear. My regard of Him who is from heaven but lives within me (at my invitation) is too aptly known as cold.
It is not a healthy desire to seek the injury of anyone, yet I roll on with this awesome ability to hurt God in me. Even spirits have feelings.
And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit. (Ephesians 2:22)
The Holy Spirit of Grace that I cause to suffer aches when I:
- grieve Him because I choose for sin. As He lives in me I then invite He who is Holy to participate in my sin as well.
- pour rain upon His flames in my heart or the hearts of others, rejecting His promptings or giftings. I then quench His fire.
- insult Him by tramping upon Him and placing His righteous guidance behind my back.
The choice upon this fallen soul is to fully clothe myself in love to Him, as selflessly as He loves me. I know I just can't live without Him.
Now I choose to:
be generous to the Holy Spirit of Jesus for He has already chosen to graciously live with me.
