3 Tips to Survive Life ... 1st TIP
A young colleague was often seen to be looking down on me (he towered above) and at various times he would stretch out his strong arm toward me. With a mischievous look in his eye he advised - I'll give you the tip and then he did. A pointed index finger 'drove' his 'wisdom' home.
The Apostle Paul scattered within the New Testament far more and wiser tips for the Christian's life than my assistant gave me. This coming week we sample just three of Paul's tips. These are drawn from his letter to Colossae.
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. (Colossians 3:14)
Paul had explained in the two previous verses (12-13) what living out love looks like.
PUT ON indicates that love is the canopy, or the mantle that shades all underneath it. A mantle also creates decency.
When love is placed across complaints, accusations - grievances are not pursued. Paul explains this as 'bear with each other'.
We all can choose to be a warrior or a peacemaker.
It is always my choice to live no longer in my image, but live rather from Jesus' Good Friday image.
Love rises above the honors and hardships of life.
Tip 1 ... PUT ON LOVE!
