2 Reasons Why Suffering Persists
God is neither blind or deaf. He does not slumber or become mighty busy.
The good Lord hears the cry of the troubled hearts, as much as He bottles the tears. But His responses can appear tardy, so He is accused of deafness or disinterest.
Consider these two short reasons why suffering continues; they are predicated upon the disciple's truth, that we each are not our own, we have been bought at a price - no longer belonging to self. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, 7:23)
- The suffering serves a higher unseen purpose for you. God will offer no man release from suffering if it means He will lose that man's attention. Suffering draws wise men to Him until they gain a thirst for Him so great that no later prosperity and well-being will dull their soul. God will offer no man a competitor to Himself. To find Him is to gain eternal treasures. Yet, the mighty risk in release from suffering is the soul once washed in hardships may wander from their need of Him, and then being refreshed seek earthly treasures again. Suffering teaches trust in God alone.
He who has suffered is done with sin. (1 Peter 4:1)
- The suffering serves a higher unseen purpose for others. Men will witness your response to hardship and may well gain your confident faith in God's goodness despite outward evidence. Is not faith lived as hope? Is not faith being sure of what He promised and certain of what we do not see even when in the darkness after light has fled?
Remember the good Lord always sees the big picture. He considers your best tomorrows when still carrying you through your worst todays.
