Enemy 4 ~ Diluting Despair#
Soul Snack 190/14 ... It is a painfully wicked life to wear the holey trousers of despair. They permit chilled air to flinch the skin and ice up the soul.
Hopelessness is a crushing of the spirit, the tombstone to the soul.
Despair makes a soul-mate of fear, creating a frightening future.
I say to God my Rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning... (Psalm 42:9)
The hopeless retire each day in darkness only to awaken again the next morning to the same darkness. As a mushroom thrives where there is no light, so too despair. Sorrow then wields stones (or bricks and boulders) at the soul.
Hopelessness is the acid of today and the theft of tomorrow. It binds the feet in cement blocks, and secures the trousers with a belt of lead.
I thought I was hopeless so God couldn't use me, then I peered through my darkness and found He was already there.
By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. (Psalm 42:8)
The prayerful release of abiding sadness into God's validating hands, bonded to the humble recognition of impotence is liberation to the soul.
Prayer melts the ice of despair.
There remains a good future for the men and women of God who would curl in His safe hands.
