A Salve to the Weak ~ A
Has your strength been so sapped you are even unable to sleep?
Maybe you have found fears where there are none, but are too weak to shake them?
Could the darkness of evening become more welcome than the light of dawn?
These soul destroying times will feel interminable yet truly are life changing, as many who have gone before you now know.
But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
So how is Jesus' power made perfect in my weakness?
- When I am strong I only need my strength. Jesus is not permitted to add His to mine. It is in weakness I now seek His strength, I request it and of course receive it. I am freed to touch what has always been available but my pride got in the way.
Surely the greatest power in the universe is humility which guides me to dependence upon God.
Weakness in the flesh or soul can then become humble confidence within the human spirit for:
I could never have known God's power if I had not first lost mine.
