The Substance of a Christian Man
Don't drag the flag of God in the earth! Put it up and don't bring shame upon it! Set your face like a soldier to overcome. (Charles Thomas Studd)
C.T. Studd murmured to his divine lover on his death bed at Ibamabi in the Belgian Congo until 10:30pm on May 16 1931. His final withering gasp whispered hallelujah. C.T. spoke in death as he had spoken in life - from faith.
Studd's life in missions sortied from China for its first decade, to India for another six years and then finally to Africa.
He no more shrunk from hardship than he did from faith.
Studd conducted African forays first into the Sudan in 1910 and then the Belgian Congo in 1913. 1916 saw him settle in the Belgian Congo, while his wife (Priscilla) remained in London to direct the mission.
Scripture says, - Faith is substance, and the man of faith acts on faith just as if had the current coin in his pocket. (Norman Grubb)
C.T. Studd (as with Hudson Taylor) is a missionary tattooed upon modern Christian history until our Lord returns - for he was a man of Christian substance, and Christian substance is faith.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)
To human reason it sounds ridiculous, but faith laughs at impossibilities and cries - it shall be done. ~ C.T. Studd
