Silly Sinatra

Soul Snack 9/165 ... Silly Sinatra

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!

These words above are the final stanza from Sinatra's 1969 chart-topper 'I did it my way.'

Frank Sinatra crooned with absolutely no self effacing thoughts 'I did it my way.'

I worry where the heart may fall that sings so boldly this call?

The independent, the self-sufficient and even the self-fulfilled alike will echo with these words.

At karaoke, funerals and stages around the globe this song continues to appear, generating unhealthy personal pride and self-aggrandisement.

The resounding self-authority of one who does not kneel, is a tragic claim and deathly value.

A life devoid of Jesus' grace is an eternity absent from it.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 1 Cor 15:10

I would love to reach eternity and be able to say to the Lord, “Thank you for giving me so much grace in my life - and Your grace to me was not without effect. It enabled me to make new beginnings……in fact your grace enabled me to kneel."
