Life's Legacies
Soul Snack 181/11 ... Life's Legacies
He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. (Is 53:2a)
Have you grown up out of dry ground?
Were you raised in the desert and not in an Eden?
Was the earth of your nurture so cracked that refreshing waters just flowed away?
Were the clouds that mostly floated overhead storm clouds?
Did your tender shoots wither before they gained strength?
Has esteem escaped you and honor been observably absent?
Two millennia ago a master of meekness preceded you and the lord of love endured your pain too!
In His silence He bore your sins - it was upon His cross that He cared. Crushed beyond death His suffering became your legacy.
Squashed too in the barrenness of life, your life also becomes your legacy - to those you don't know and are not yet even born; but the will of the Lord is still to prosper at your hands.
Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
and though the LORD makes his life a guilt offering,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
and the will of the LORD will prosper in his hand. (Is 53:10)
