GOD - Lead me to life!
'Men give advice, God gives guidance.' ~ Leonard Ravenhill
Men practise all manner of habits, gather a myriad of opinion and examine the desires of their hearts; they weigh this amalgam as measures to plan their paths.
However there always exists those men whose soul drives their eyes higher, and their knees lower - who plead with the good Lord:
lead me to life, I do not desire my ways anymore.
Jesus has taught all His disciples to pray that our Father in heaven is our daily protection, affection and direction:
lead me not into temptation and deliver me from evil...
The Psalmist repeatedly sought the Lord's steps to navigate his feet:
- lead me in the paths of righteousness for You name's sake - 23:3
- lead me in a straight path - 27:1
- for the sake of Your name lead and guide me - 31:3
- send forth Your light and truth, let them guide me; let them bring me to the holy mountain, to the place where You dwell - 43:3
- lead me in the way everlasting - 139:24
- lead me on level ground - 143:10
The constant refrain of these verses only serves to magnify my necessity for Divine guidance. They are the prayer of the humble who refuse to trust their own ways. They are the pleas of sober men who simply know their greatest need and smartest desire is to seek the Lord's choices first, and to hear from Him.
The media will lead me, my mates will steer me, my past will shout at me - but I want my Messiah to pave all my paths. His is the only influence that is pure. He rescues me in times of need, speaks to me in times of peace and writes on my heart in times of ignorance.
Follow Him most carefully that you will live eternally!
