An Archbishop's Christmas Blessing
‘Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you: He is Christ the Lord.’ (Luke 2:11)
The simplicity of my granddaughter’s depiction of Bethlehem has much to commend itself. Although the artwork is unformed by adult standards, it conveys the truth of a baby born to Joseph and Mary.
This infant would ascend the royal throne of His father David, and be given the name that is above every name – it is THE ONLY NAME to whom ALL knees would bow.
In a world that celebrates Christmas yet prefers holidays, food and gifts to the eternal realities of heaven and hell, we have a simple and compelling gospel to proclaim:
that Christ came into the world to save sinners and, the apostle Paul confirms to us this is a trustworthy saying (1 Timothy 1:15).
In the midst of our secularist culture may your Christian hearts be filled with hope and joy – so that all who know you will too see and hear the good news of Jesus, the Savior of this world.#
