A 2nd Premium Apostolic Tip
Soul Snack 169/14 ... What would you do for Jesus if you met Him face to face?
Jesus and His premium apostles are atop a high mountain. The occasion is called 'The Transfiguration'. (Read the full story in Luke 9:28-35)
Finally Peter sees the glory of Jesus and decides that work for Jesus (and His two mates - Elijah the prophet with Moses the lawgiver) is the best response.
Yep - that's right, WORK not WORSHIP! AHHHHMAZZZING!
And as the men were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah”— not knowing what he said. (Luke 9:33)
Peter sees Jesus’ glory and now seeks to work, deliberately distracting himself from an open supernatural heaven. So God intervenes further.
The prophets (Elijah) and the law (Moses) were the two most likely other distractions to a Jewish follower of Jesus. God removes Moses and Elijah from the scene.
In God’s usual manner of appearance He descends in a cloud then speaks directly to the core of Jesus’ followers, the premium apostles; no hindrance now in gaining their complete attention.
God’s instructions to these select apostles are ridiculously simple -
this is my Son, listen to Him!
I puzzle why the inner core of Jesus’ faithful needed this supernatural encounter requiring such direct instruction. The simple conclusion is to this even simpler mind – they followed YES, even worked hard for Jesus YES, but listened NO.
God had reintroduced Jesus’ core to Jesus, could this really be one more time for the dummies, the deaf or the diligent?
Could the greatest malaise of Christendom remain the same – not listening to Jesus?
Tip 2 ~ Premium apostles may know Jesus well and serve Him with energy, but they will first stop and listen to Jesus before working for Jesus. They know Jesus is far more interested in their attention than their activity.
