6 Tips to Escape Ambition's Jail
There remains conflict twixt earth and heaven, between a man's body and a man's soul. This struggle is painfully evident in the redeemed soul. (The unredeemed have little awareness of spiritual wrestles.)
The combat is waged as the flesh seeks to maintain command of the spirit.
Jesus warns:
"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." (Matthew 26:41)
The search for true freedom is ended when the appetites of the flesh are released. All else prior to this express the flesh-driven hungers of the heart; these are the jail of ambition.
Only the yearnings from a flesh-free spirit can become spiritual ambition. They penetrate the outer carnal man and delve to the divine image each man carries within.
Spiritual ambitions are muscles of the soul to be trained, barbells of the spirit to be lifted and time in the body to be redeemed.
The nurture of spiritual ambition arises from:
- humility for this is the warrior to pride
- self-knowledge for this is the path to confession
- detachment for this is release from Babylon's bondage
- suffering for this is the path to perfection (See Hebrews 2:10)
- submission for this is the expression of humility and
- the seeking of profit for God's Kingdom alone.
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. (Galatians 5:13)
When this simple life is no longer cluttered by ambitions of the carnal man there is jailbreak;
the vertical bars across his redeemed soul have been opened, slid away to reveal God's image of humble love.
